Hero Passion XTec

The country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, on Friday launched the new Passion ‘XTec’ motorcycle with a price starting at INR 74,590 (ex-showroom Delhi). It has two variants Drum priced at INR 74,590 and Disc priced at INR 78,990, the company said in a statement.

The motorcycle is powered by a 110cc engine with an output of 9 BHP at 7500 rpm and an on-demand torque of 9.79 NM at 5000 rpm. It comes with patented i3S technology for better power efficiency, Hero said.

The model comes with a 5-year warranty. Some of its features include LED headlamp, fully digital dashboard with Bluetooth connectivity, SMS and call alerts, real-time mileage indicator, low fuel indicator, kickstand engine cut-off side panel and a maintenance reminder.

The company further stated, “The price revision has been necessitated to partially offset ever-increasing overall cost inflation, including raw material prices.”

Bajaj Auto has introduced a new member to its Pulsar series in India. The new bike launched in India is the Pulsar N160 and it is the third variant of the new pulsar series. The Pulsar N160 shares the same platform as the Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250. The Pulsar N160 is priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Engine

The new Bajaj Pulsar N160 is powered by a 164.8cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. The 164.8 cc engine offers a maximum power of 16 hp with a maximum torque of 14.65 Nm. Compared to the Pulsar NS160, the Pulsar N160 generates less power by 1.2 hp. However, the torque of the motor remains the same.

Design

The overall design of the new Bajaj Pulsar N160 remains the same as the N250. The motorcycle has a naked street fighter style similar to its older brother with a windshield. The rear of the bike is equipped with dual LED taillights and a split grab rail. Even the alloy wheels of the Bajaj Pulsar N160 are identical to those of the Pulsar N250. The fuel tank of the motorcycle is 14 liters. The semi-digital instrument panel offers important information such as gear position, clock, fuel consumption and range.

Brake and suspension

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 gets an option for single channel ABS or dual channel ABS. On the single-channel ABS version, the bike gets a 280mm front disc as well as a 230mm rear disc. Likewise, the dual-channel ABS variant offers a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc. In terms of suspension, the front suspension is a 37mm telescopic fork type while the rear unit is a monoshock suspension. In terms of weight, the single channel version weighs 152 kg while the dual channel version is only 2 kg more.

In line with recent market and economic conditions, Yamaha has announced a price hike of up to Rs 2,000 on certain products in India.

Yamaha has announced a price hike for some products in its Indian portfolio. Starting with the brand’s flagship scooter which saw a price hike of Rs 2,000 bringing the price to Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom). It should be noted that the last scooter price increase was announced just a month ago.

Similarly, the disc brake equipped versions of the Fascino and RayZR Hybrid received a marginal price hike of Rs 500. After the price hike, the Fascino Hybrid now costs between Rs 83,630 and Rs 85,630. Meanwhile , the RayZR Hybrid will now cost between Rs 83,930 and Rs 87,930.

As for motorcycles, the MT-15 has received a price hike of Rs 2,000. The new price on the MT-15 is now at Rs 1.61 lakh (ex-showroom) for the black color option and Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom) for other color options.

The prices of the entire FZ range and the FZ-X motorcycle have increased by Rs 1,000. With the new hike, the FZ-FI range now starts at Rs 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 1, 23 lakh (ex showroom). Similarly, the FZ-X now has a price tag of Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company’s top-end product, the R15 V4, gets a slight price hike of Rs 500 across all variants. This excludes the 60th Anniversary Edition whose price has now increased by Rs 900. The R15 V4 range will now cost you between Rs 1.77 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.88 lakh (ex-showroom)

ISLAMABAD: Inflation as measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) rose by 3.38% from the previous week, mainly due to the largest increase ever in the prices of petroleum products, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released on Friday.

The increase in weekly inflation is the highest since the change of base year to measure the SPI. Petrol and diesel prices were increased by Rs84 and Rs115 per litre, respectively, while electricity tariffs were increased by 50pc.

During the week under review, the year-over-year increase in the SPI was 27.82%.

Speaking to social media platform Twitter, former finance minister Shaukat Tarin said: “Despite the increase in petrol/diesel prices by Rs84/115 per litre, fuel prices electricity/electricity by 50%, you have not been able to satisfy the IMF. The latest economic survey released by your government validates our strong economic performance, so stop blaming us and improve your government’s performance.”

In another tweet, Mr Tarin said: “The increase in petrol/diesel/electricity prices so far has had an impact on households. I don’t know how they are going to deal with this tsunami of inflation and coming. His post contained a chart of the basic monthly budget of a family of four which has risen to almost Rs 13,000 since March 31, 2022.

The government projected a modest annual inflation target of 11.5% for FY23 in budget documents. However, the Federal Board of Revenue, which uses inflation as one of the measures to collect additional taxes from consumers, has forecast inflation of 12.8%.

Mr. Tarin predicted that annual inflation would be around 25% to 30%.

Shortly after coming to power, the new government dissolved the National Price Monitoring Committee, which was headed by the Minister of Finance, while the provinces were represented by Provincial Chief Secretaries. The committee meets every Monday to monitor the prices of essential foodstuffs.

PBS data shows that prices of 36 essential food items rose in the week under review compared to the previous week.

The price of chicken increased by 12.10pc, potatoes 6.89pc, cooked daal 5.90pc, gram pulses 5.29pc, cooked beef 5.19pc, vegetable ghee 4 .95pc, plain bread 4.37pc, masoor 3.50pc, cooking oil 2.87pc, mashed legumes 1.7pc, beef with bone 1.50pc. Other food products such as rice, pulses and milk have also seen their prices increase.

In non-food items, the price of high-speed diesel increased by 28.91pc, that of men’s sponge by 26.76pc, that of men’s sandal by 15.40pc, that of gasoline 11.43 pc, that of electricity 6.60 pc and that of cigarettes 6.27 pc.

The SPI increased by 2.85 pc for the lowest income group (i.e. people earning less than Rs 17,732 per month) and by 3.10 pc for the group whose monthly income is greater than 44,175 rupees.

Norton V4SV 2023 in action

TVS-owned British manufacturer Norton Motorcycles has launched the 2023 V4SV superbike for a price of GBP 44,000 (Rs. 41.61 lakhs) for the UK market.

According to Norton, the superbike has been redesigned this time and remains the only British designed and built superbike in production in the UK. The company said it would prioritize deposit orders placed before the company was acquired by TVS in April 2020.

The marque, which boasts 100 years of Isle of Man TT racing prowess and success, will manufacture the V4SV at its recently opened factory in Solihull, Birmingham. There will be 2 colors offered – Carbon and Manx Silver.

The superbike gets a lot of carbon fiber parts

The Manx Silver option is finished in a striking silver body with red and carbon stripes, a black front panel and red OZ Racing forged aluminum wheels. The Carbon option gets exposed carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber BST wheels for reduced weight.

However, both colors feature a carbon fiber fuel tank and body, a handcrafted TIG-welded aluminum tube frame polished to a mirror finish, and a Union Jack on the tail of the bike.

The engine develops 185 HP

The superbike is powered by a liquid-cooled 72-degree 1200cc V4 engine that develops 185hp at 12,500rpm and 125Nm at 9,000rpm. The frame is aerospace-grade aluminum refined at the Isle of Man TT.

A comprehensive quick-shift and automatic blipper system, adjustable front and rear suspension, Brembo disc brakes, sophisticated lean-angle sensitive traction control and 3 engine modes (wet, road and sport) are offered on this British motorcycle.

As standard, the Norton V4SV is equipped with LED lighting for low beam, high beam, turn signals and taillight, as well as a keyless ignition system.

The cockpit receives a 6-inch TFT screen

Additionally, the superbike features a 6-inch color TFT display that includes rear-view camera functionality and a 15-liter carbon fiber fuel tank under the seat with Kevlar reinforcement.

KUALA LUMPUR: Yamaha’s affordable, performance-focused naked roadster, the MT-15, has received an update for 2022 in Malaysia. The latest version features a new color and design, although no technical changes have been made.

Power is sent to the ground through a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch that helps reduce clutch weight and allows for smooth, low-stress downshifts.



Also on the suspension front are the same inverted front forks with gold anodized fork legs and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The braking system is managed by a single hydraulic disc at the front as well as at the rear wheel.
