Suzuki Motorbike India managed to sell 76,230 two-wheelers in the month of July 2022, of which 60,892 units were sold in the domestic market, as well as 15,338 units which were exported to other markets. This helped the Japanese automaker post positive growth of 4.3% year-on-year (YoY) compared to July 2021. The company’s June 2022 domestic sales figures stood at 52,929 units, meaning it recorded monthly sales growth of 7,963 units. Currently, Suzuki’s portfolio in India consists of Access 125Burgman Street, and Avenis scooters, and Gixxer, Gixxer SF, Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250, V-Strom SX, V-Strom 650XT, Hayabusa and Katana motorcycles. The Katana is the latest motorcycle launched by the company in India. With a base price of Rs 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom), the bike goes up against models like the BMW F 900 XR and Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX in the Indian market. Suzuki is offering the bike in India with two color options – Metallic Mystic Silver and Metallic Stellar Blue.

The Katana features a 999cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 152hp of peak power, along with 106Nm of peak torque. The transmission functions are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox. The Katana gets a two-way quick shifter with throttle-by-wire, a slipper clutch, as well as a five-level traction control system.

It may only be the end of July 2022, as we write this. However, if you already know you are going, now is the best time to buy your tickets for EICMA 2022. Why? As you might have already guessed, there is currently an early bird discount on tickets.

Until August 5, 2022, adults aged 14 and over can purchase tickets for the low price of €14. At the moment, this converts to around $14.30 since the Euro and US Dollar are almost in sync, which is a rare event indeed.

After August 5, 2022, adult tickets will go back up to the normal price of €19, or approximately $19.30. Tickets for children remain fixed at €12, regardless of when you choose to purchase them. Please note that there is also an additional processing fee of €1.50 for tickets.

If you are a member of the motorcycling media or work in the industry, EICMA is a show that has a debut just for you. For this year, the day reserved for the press is November 8, 2022. Press and professionals can enter on November 9, 2022 to see what are the latest and greatest offers that everyone has to show this season. From November 10 to 13, the show will be open to anyone wishing to come and visit it.

2021 marked the return of EICMA to an in-person event, following the temporary hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although everyone was hopeful, no one really knew what to expect. As time passes and modern medicine and the general public have developed strategies to deal with this unwanted virus and its mutations, there is a sense of determination to carry on into 2022. While 2021 seemed more hesitant, 2022 seems to us more sure of ourselves in its calculations.

As always, of course, we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out, but we look forward to the proceedings, like so many excited children waiting for a slice of cake and a shiny balloon.

KUALA LUMPUR: All-Malaysian brand Aveta entered the local automotive arena in 2020 to target the cost-conscious side of the bicycle market. First, it rolled out the RM2,888 DY90 and RM4,039 RX110, while later the Aveta VS110 and V13R joined the lineup at RM3,588 and RM6,688, respectively. Well, now here comes the brand’s first super moped, called the SVR180.

Engine

Touted as the “ultimate super moped” by the brand, the Aveta SVR180 is powered by a 175cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine generating a maximum power of 16.8hp at 8,500rpm and maximum torque of 15.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm. rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox mated to a chain final drive.

Design and features

Style-wise, the bike’s front fairing is inspired by the Kawasaki Z1000. It is equipped with an LED headlight and an integrated daytime running light. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels shod with 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tires and communicates essential information to the rider using a fully digital instrument panel. The kit also includes a radiator guard and a USB charging socket.



Suspension & braking

As for the suspension, Aveta’s new motorcycle receives a telescopic fork in the front and a monoshock in the rear. Braking duties, on the other hand, are handled by disc brakes on both axles. One thing that is quite disappointing on this front is the absence of the anti-lock braking system as it is likely to be mandatory among the kapcai segment in Malaysia.

Royal Enfield motorcycles are very popular in India and abroad. A variety of modification options are available for these bikes and we have featured many tastefully modified examples on our website. Normally in India we see Classic 350 motorcycles from Royal Enfield with unique modifications. The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 also offer a variety of aftermarket options. Here we have such a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycle that has been carefully modified by its owner. The best part is that this modified Continental GT 650 is available for sale.

The bike seen here in the pictures started life as a regular Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. Srinivas Adilapuram, a mechanical engineer by profession, modified his motorbike with the help of some of his friends. The Continental GT 650 has now been modified into a real cafe racer look. The modification work on this motorcycle was done by Ricochet Motorcycles in Pune. Starting at the front, the bike comes with a gold-colored USD fork. This unit was taken from a Benelli TNT 600. This gives the front of the bike a beefier look.

The bike now runs on wider 17-inch wheels with stock hubs and custom spokes. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Diablo rosso 2 tires. This new setup of front forks, wheels and tires gave the owner the look and handling they wanted. As we progress, the bike’s stock round headlight has been removed and replaced with a custom front fascia. This helps achieve the cafe racer look. the fairing gets Hella projector lamps and it comes with a carbon fiber laminate body. The owner himself had done this work on the motorcycle. The fuel tank remains the same however, with the carbon fiber finish the bike looked extremely good.

The handlebars on this bike are a bespoke unit and a Cafe Koso racing gauge is also available with the bike. The owner however currently uses the stock instrument cluster. The rear subframe of the motorcycle has been modified. It looks shorter and gets a minimalist design. This has been converted to a single-seat motorcycle and the seats are now wrapped in rugged, raw Italian leather with custom stitching on it. The engine and other exposed metal parts of this bike have been powder coated and it goes well with the overall look of the bike.

The bike gets a Royal Enfield Himalayan rear light and the rear tires are fully exposed. It gets a Dustland road racer exhaust and there are custom brass bits in some parts of the bikes. He also gets spare air filters from DNA. Coming to the specifics, this is a 2019 model Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycle. It has covered approximately 3,700 km so far. The motorcycle is registered in Maharashtra and comes with full insurance and service history. The asking price for this beautifully modified Continental GT 650 motorcycle is Rs 5 lakh. In a recent movement against gasoline, the UK government has published an open consultation on its website end the sale of gas-powered motorcycles by 2035, with some getting the kick-off as early as 2030 – eight short years away.

This news follows Europe’s current trajectory to cut all emissions by 78% by the same year – and as you can imagine, the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) is not very happy about it.

In the objection submitted to the government, the MCIA continues to reason that our industry needs ‘more time’ to adjust to zero emissions obligations – and slapping an earlier end date is not the way to settle things.

“We have made a compelling case in our Journey to a Brighter Destination document for the continued support of high-capacity recreational motorcycling and why it should be treated as such in the consultation,” said Tony Campbell, the director general of the MCIA in a report by Visor down.

“Its minimal emissions, low mileage, significant contributions to the economy, sport, tourism and mental health benefits are all reasons why a fairer, progressive and more personalized approach is needed to phase out the new non-zero emissions motorcycles.”

“This represents just 0.5% of UK inland transport emissions, this news is a missed opportunity to give industry more time to adapt and technology to catch up,” adds the MCIA.

“We recognize that our environmental contribution will increase as other modes of transport are phased out and therefore support the decision to phase out L1 vehicles by 2030,” Campbell finishes.

“However, we do not support the decision to include the L3e-A1, which, even with an ICE powertrain, is significantly more environmentally efficient than some electric cars.”

A third suspect was arrested this week in connection with the fatal daylight shooting of a man at a motorcycle sale in the Bronx, cops said.

Leonardo Hernandez, 25, was arrested at his Bronx home on Tuesday and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the May 18 murder of Jefferson Hernandez, 20, a announced the police.

There is no apparent relationship between the two men.

Jefferson Hernandez, of Spring Valley, Rockland County, drove to East 144th and Exterior streets in Mott Haven with three other men to buy a Kawasaki motorcycle they found on Facebook Marketplace, authorities said.

He was shot in the head around 3:40 p.m. and rushed to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.

The trio who drove with the victim — in a black Chevrolet Trailblazer with a U-Haul flatbed trailer attached — were uninjured.

Jefferson Hernandez was shot and killed May 18 while driving to Mott Haven to purchase a Kawasaki motorcycle found on Facebook Marketplace, authorities said.

Two other men have already been arrested in connection with the murder, cops said.

Joan Vasquez, 32, has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.

Manuel Reyes, 23, faces charges of murder, manslaughter, assault and possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting, police said.
