A dealer wanted in the sale of heroin who killed a 30-year-old Northampton Co. man, according to DA

The authorities in Lehigh County won an arrest warrant on Friday in a 2020 drug overdose that killed a 30-year-old Northampton County man, according to a news release.

Lehigh County Jim Martin and Whitehall Township Police Chief Michael Marks said in the release that Natalia Hellriegel is facing a felony charge of delivering drugs causing death and felony counts and related offences.

Hellriegel was not immediately arraigned on the charges, according to court records. The 29-year-old is listed in the release as being from Ephrata in Lancaster County and in court records as a resident of Catasauqua.

Investigators allege that Hellriegel on September 10, 2020 sold heroin to Dominic Anthony of Lehigh Township. Anthony was found dead next to his motorbike that day in a car park along the 2600 block of MacArthur Road in Whitehall, the statement said.

“Anthony died of mixed drug toxicity and his death was ruled an accident by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office,” authorities said in the statement.

The investigation linked Hellriegel to heroin through text messages arranging for the sale on September 10, 2020, at Hellriegel’s home, according to the statement: “The investigation also revealed two other drug purchases by others from Hellriegel on various dates in February 2021.”

Anthony was an alumnus of Northampton Area High School in 2008, who later earned his bachelor’s degree in 2013 from the University of Pittsburgh, according to his obituary. He worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 375.

Court records did not immediately list an attorney for Hellriegel, and no phone number could be found to try to reach her for comment.

The DA’s office assigned investigative assistance to the Regional Intelligence and Investigative Center, Officer David M. Petzold Memorial Digital Forensics Laboratory of Lehigh County, and the County of Lehigh Drug Task Force. Lehigh.

Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival tickets on sale (and Breath of Life gallery exhibition opens!)

Photo: TMDFF

Tickets! Get your tickets! The Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival (and subsequent tours across Canada) are right around the corner, and now you can purchase a pass to access the show.

Show prices depend on the city you’re in and the shows you plan to see (one night? two nights?), so your best bet for prices is to visit the individual sites for Toronto ($75 for VIP), Montreal ($60 for all access) and Calgary ($25 for all access).

Earlier this month, we listed the TMFF 2022 film lineup – as usual, it’s a mix of features and shorts from around the world. You can see our list of this year’s movies here. There’s only one Canadian film screening this year, so if it’s important to you, make sure you get a ticket that allows you to attend that screening.

The Toronto shows take place at the Cinema Revue in Roncesvalles, as always, the weekend of October 6-8.

The breath of life

In addition to the film selection, TMFF organizers are also helping to promote the exhibition Breath of Life by photographer Douglas MacRae at Toronto’s Birch Contemporary gallery. Here is what the TMFF website says about this exhibit:

Photographer and artist, Douglas MacRae’s Breath of Life exhibition is a retrospective of his two greatest passions, travel and motorcycle racing. His wanderlust and lifelong adventurous spirit inspired him to capture evocative cultures and extraordinary landscapes including Bhutan, Burma, Tibet, Nepal, Kenya and Indonesia. Douglas resided in the Dalai Lama’s monastery in India, traveled the Peruvian Amazon and explored Everest Base Camp. In his 20 years as a racing champion, he has photographed some of the most coveted vintage race bikes in North America. This exhibit is a celebration not only of Douglas’s work, but also of his one-year prognosis of stage 4 glioblastoma. Despite the challenges of this incurable brain cancer, he maintained a positive mindset and is now at three and a half years old.

From the photos we’ve seen before, it looks like a fantastic exhibit, especially if you’re familiar with MacRae’s adventures on two wheels and his life behind the lens. It runs from September 8 to October 8, 2022. Find out more here.

A brand new 1981 Yamaha SR500 still in the factory crate

Interestingly, this is the second time we’ve featured a 1981 Yamaha SR500 that’s still new in its original factory crate in the last 12 months, so if you’re having a bit of deja vu, don’t be don’t worry, we do too.

The reason two essentially identical examples of the 1981 Yamaha SR500 have appeared for sale still in their shipping crates with 0 miles on the odometer is that they were both purchased by the same man when new , but unfortunately, his planned plan for them would never come to fruition.

Quick Facts – The Yamaha SR500

  • The SR500 was first released in 1978, essentially as a road version of the popular Yamaha XT500 off-road motorcycle.
  • The SR500 is powered by a renowned for its robust air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a single overhead camshaft, two valves per cylinder, a single carburetor and a 5-speed transmission.
  • Thanks to the SR500’s affordability and indestructibility, it has become a popular commuter bike in Japan, Australia and Europe.
  • In recent years, the SR500 and its stablemate the SR400 have become a mainstream choice for custom motorcycle builders around the world who turn them into cafe racers, scramblers, flat trackers and Brat-style bikes.

The Yamaha SR500

In 1981, you could walk into a Yamaha motorcycle dealership and buy yourself a road-legal street bike that was powered by the same engine that had propelled the Yamaha XT500 to victories in the Paris-Dakar Rally the previous two years. – 1979 and 1980.

Although the specs of the SR500 may not seem that impressive, the engine won the first two races of the Paris Dakar Rally and it became one of the longest lasting engine designs in Yamaha history.

On paper, the specs of the Yamaha SR500 don’t seem particularly interesting. It is powered by an air-cooled 500cc single-cylinder engine with a single overhead camshaft, two valves, single carburettor, single exhaust and an integrated 5-speed gearbox.

The motor is mounted on a tubular steel half-duplex cradle frame, it has standard telescopic forks up front and a pair of adjustable shock absorbers in the rear. There are seats and pegs for two and the usual assortment of turn signals, a headlight and taillight.

Despite the somewhat average sound specs, the SR500 and its stablemate, the SR400, would become cult classics in Japan and around the world.

The bike’s low weight and extreme reliability endeared it to urban riders, and custom motorcycle builders created a wide range of unusual bikes based on the SR500, including cafe racers, scramblers, flat trackers , brat-style bikes and a mid-steer wild creation. by Japanese Skull Motorcycles.

yamaha-sr500-740x567-1

A wide variety of different versions of the SR500 have been offered from the factory, and custom motorcycle builders around the world have long favored the model as their starting point.

The SR500 was originally released in 1978 and it was sold until 1999 when it was replaced by the SR400. Even though the SR400 is powered by a slightly smaller engine at 400cc, power levels were similar and from 2010 it received fuel injection to meet modern emissions regulations.

How This SR500 Ended Up In A Crate

It’s a bit sad why two SR500s ended up in crates, but it has now presented two people with unique opportunities to purchase brand new examples of one of Yamaha’s most important models.

I’ll put it back here for the seller to tell you the story below:

“This bike, and a second matching bike, were both purchased new, in 1981, by a gentleman from Harrison Township, Michigan. He bought one for himself and one for his son and delivered them both in the crate as he planned to assemble them himself with his son.

“His son has never done motorcycles, time has passed and 41 years later he decided it was time to sell some stuff.”

The bike you see here is part of the original pair, and you can read more about the other here if you’re interested.

This one is currently offered for sale on Bring A Trailer out of Livonia, Michigan. If you want to know more or register to bid you can visit the list here.

Man convicted of murdering New Orleans realtor while selling dirt bike via online app | Crime/Police

A Jefferson Parish jury deliberated just 45 minutes before finding Jalen Harvey, the man accused of killing a New Orleans realtor while posing as a potential motorcycle buyer whose victim announced online, guilty of first-degree murder Thursday night, the Jefferson Parish district attorney’s office said.

Harvey, 22, was also convicted of obstructing justice and abusing monetary instruments in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Joseph Vindel.

Vindel was shot on March 7, 2021 after being lured to Harvey’s Manhattan Boulevard apartment complex in the community of Harvey.

Joseph Vindel, 29, is shown here in a photo his girlfriend shared on Facebook on Monday, March 8. Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies say Vindel was shot and killed while trying to sell a dirt bike on Sunday.

through facebook

Harvey contacted Vindel after Vindel advertised the sale of his red Honda dirt bike using the online marketplace application OfferUp, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Kurt Zeagler said during from an earlier hearing in the case.

Vindel left his Uptown home around 10 a.m., telling his girlfriend he would be back shortly, according to Zeagler. He had a brief text exchange with his dad right after he left the house. After that, Vindel was never heard from again, Zeagler said.

Prosecutors accused Harvey of conspiring to rob Vindel by paying for the bike with fake money. But the transaction took a deadly turn when Harvey shot Vindel multiple times while the Vindel was sitting inside his vehicle.

Vindel had a gun, but the weapon did not have a chambered cartridge and was not fired, according to the district attorney’s office. And a gunshot wound to Vindel’s hand contradicted Harvey’s claim that Vindel first pointed a gun at him, authorities said.

Jalen Harvey, 20, has been charged with first degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Joseph Vindel, 29.

Vindel’s heart was still pounding when authorities said Harvey dragged his body into the backseat of Vindel’s SUV. Harvey then rode in the SUV, to which was hitched a trailer carrying the dirt bike, for more than an hour, the district attorney’s office said.

Harvey abandoned the vehicle, which still contained Vindel’s body, in the 2300 block of Coliseum Street in New Orleans, then drove the dirt bike back to his apartment on the West Bank, authorities said. .

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the New Orleans Police Department tracked the phone number used to contact Vindel to Harvey’s apartment complex. There, deputies spotted Vindel’s dirt bike on Harvey’s back patio.

During the trial, Harvey testified that he doused Vindel’s body with gasoline in an attempt to destroy any DNA evidence, the district attorney’s office said.

The obstruction charge stems from Harvey’s efforts to dispose of evidence, including driving Vindel’s body to the Garden District. Vindel’s wallet and cell phone were never found.

The monetary instrument misuse charge involves Harvey’s use of movie props money in the online sales transaction. Detectives also found more than 175 counterfeit $100 bills in his apartment.

Secure areas for internet sales

Vindel’s murder led the Sheriff’s Office and the NOPD to create “safe trading areas” for Internet sales transactions.

But Morgan Tyrone, 24, of Pascagoula, was fatally shot on April 10 in Terrytown after sheriff’s office investigators said Daniel Tenner, 20, staged an armed robbery under the guise of selling an iPhone on the Facebook market.

Tenner was arrested and convicted of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. His case has not yet been judged.

Harvey will be sentenced by Judge E. Adrian Adams of the 24th Judicial District Court on October 6. He faces a mandatory life sentence.

Blackburn Funeral Directors are selling a historic hearse

A funeral car that was used to transport more than 1,500 people to their final resting place is for sale.

Blackburn-based Iqbal Funeral and Memorial Services acquired the Mercedes Benz hearse in 2005 and said it was selling it because it was more cost effective to hire vehicles as and when needed.

Rashid Iqbal, 66, who has run the business since its inception in 1989, said: “We have found that limos are much easier to hire and there are also maintenance and parking issues. .

“It’s in good working order and I tend to drive it out on Sundays to make sure it stays that way. I guess some people take their motorbikes out on Sundays – I take a hearse!

“It has only 51,000 miles and is in great condition. It has served us very well during the time we have had it.

“The mileage is so low because we only tend to go from here to the cemetery.

“I guess there are many other uses for cars like this and people can get quite creative. I’ve heard of people converting these vehicles into motorhomes and even delivery vehicles.

“I think it would also be a great addition to someone’s collection. They always go for a decent amount for this type of cars, especially those that have been well maintained.

The Mercedes Benz 2-litre hearse has a selling price of £3,500.

Rashid runs the funeral home, based in St Peter Street with his sons Zubair, 33, and Ali, 27. Rashid established the first official funeral services in the city for the Muslim community.

The company now serves people from all over the Northwest and from all cultures and walks of life. It houses a special memorial exhibit hall at their central location.
